Etzanoa is a historical Wichita city located in present-day Arkansas City, Kansas, near the Arkansas River.  This community flourished between 1450 and 1700.  Eztanoa may have housed up to 20,000 Wichita people.  Francisco Vasquez de Coronado visited central Kansas in 1541 and dubbed the Wichita settlements Quivira.  In April of 2017, the location of Etzanoa was discovered when a local teen found a cannonball linked to a battle near Arkansas City that took place in 1601.  ---from Wikipedia  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etzanoa

This quilt design was created for the 2019 Row By Row Experience by Laser Cut Quilts for McDonald's Sewing & Vacuum.  Dalene McDonald read that the citizens of Etzanoa offered the Spaniards corn cakes (and the Spaniards in turn tried to take them as hostages), she decided that this was the taste of Arkansas City that she wanted to share with Row By Row participants.
